Calling all Leaders to Contribute!
Here is a link to some good Leader In Me ideas shared on Pinterest. We'd like to see more ideas and drive more visitors to our Leader In Me idea sharing blog. The next 5 visitors who contribute a couple of ideas and/or links to good resources will earn a Starbucks gift card! So, begin with the end in mind and let's synergize!

Share Ideas and Resources Here! ~ August 2013
Hey, SPX Staff! Take the Lead and Share "The Leader In Me" Ideas Here!
Here are some ideas shared by Linda C. after our July 9 meeting. Thanks, Linda!
Linda plans to use the quote "Be kinder than is necessary" which is from the book "Wonder" that she reads to her class. She will post it in her room or above her door, and would love to see it included in the quotes we'll be posting in often-frequented SPX spots.
Linda shared the following Pinterest links and comments. (FYI: If you haven't looked at the many educator boards on Pinterest, you'll want to do that!)
Instead of saying classmates, this could say "leader"
Leader In Me hallway murals
As suggested by Megan, who pinned this before me: "More like 'mirror, mirror on the wall, find the leader in us all!"
This would be cure above the bathroom mirrors: I can see the leader in me!
Notes from the Summer of 2013 Brainstorming Sessions
Ideas Shared...
- Theme Song, Lead Me, Oh Lord
- Talk about leadership, etc. Wed. and Thurs., 8/14 and 8/15.
- Take students on a tour and discuss "The Leader In Me" displays.
- T-shirts for all, to be worn first on Friday, 8/16/13, and on some spirit days. Also, 8/16: Popsicles instead of ice cream, with the theme "It's cool to be a leader"
- Two assemblies? One for K-5 and one for 6-8
- Older students make a video ahead of time to share Friday? Vickie will help.
- Use music to introduce and reinforce habits. There are already good songs out there if we want to use them.
- Read-aloud books can be used to introduce and reinforce the 7 habits.
- We will use the video studio to reinforce the 7 habits.
- CASH certificates may be used once we get things underway. (CASH=Caught Adopting Seven Habits)
- Aluminum foil: I see the leader in me.
- A birthday celebration was also mentioned. Have all of the month's (eg. September) birthdays celebrated with a treat in the cafeteria on a designated date instead of individually. We're told that PTO will help.
- 7 habits will be displayed in the main lobby and elsewhere (classrooms and common areas)
- Display a leadership quote in public areas, to be changed weekly or every couple of weeks.
- Have a leadership themed display in every classroom. (Your classroom mission statement too)
- Tour the building with students so they can view the displays and discuss what they see and how we'll be changing how we approach situations.
- Jill S. has a 20x30 frame she is willing to let us used for The Leader In Me.
- This quote was suggested for the staff lounge: "If we don't teach children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to."

As we at St. Pius X School begin implementing the amazing "The Leader in Me" initiative, many terrific ideas are being shared and resources found.
Let's use this blog to record our implementation process (the bright spots, funny things that happen along the way, what works well, and things we might not want to repeat-- in other words, the good, the bad, and the ugly). This will also be a place to share planning notes, helpful websites, quotes, and resources, and ask questions, share suggestions, and keep each other inspired.
We're off on a new adventure, and we're all in it together. Let's go! Lead me, oh Lord, lead me!
